Goodwood Day 2 Tips
1.50 – Goodwood

Each-way punters should get a good run for their money in the opening handicap on Wednesday with the Charlie Johnston-trained Attila The Honey.

The three-year-old filly has been in fine form throughout the month of July.

2.25 – Goodwood
Breege can be rewarded for her consistency again in the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes.

Winner of the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at the Derby meeting, the four-year-old filly will be hard to keep out of the frame.

3.00 – Goodwood
The two-year-olds will race hell for leather in the Molecomb Stakes over the five furlong sprint course and Aesterious can outflank them all under James Doyle.

The Norfolk Stakes fifth looks sure to be on the scene.

3.35 – Goodwood
Rosallion is near as damn it a “banker” for this race and it is very hard to see last season’s ready winner of the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere being turned over.

Even money will be as generous a price you will find anywhere. Henry Longfellow can complete the forecast berth.

4.10 – Goodwood
Nobody will accuse you of being careless if you decide to have an each-way interest on Wisper in the EBF Fillies’ Handicap.

The oldest competitor in the field can bring all her experience to the table under Kieran Shoemark.

4.45 – Goodwood
Convo was last seen running a cracker in the Prix Robert Papin at Chantilly and a race such as this should be right within her scope.

Given that she’s not from one of the big powerhouse stables, she’ll probably go off at a decent starting price too.

5.20 – Goodwood
This World Pool Handicap is a wide open affair in which the Hamad Al Jehani-trained Change For Good can make his presence felt.

After a recent switch out of Ollie Sangster’s yard, Jehani will be keen to show Wathnan Racing what a decent trainer he is.

Goodwood Day 3 Tips
1.50 – Goodwood

In a handicap strictly confined to three-year-olds only, the Kevin Ryan-trained Sisyphean looks a solid each-way chance in the Thursday opener.

Already a two-time winner this season, this Dubawi-colt can go well again.

2.25 – Goodwood
Tropical Storm has come to hand in his last two runs and his Norfolk Stakes second lends itself to having an excellent chance here in the Richmond Stakes.

Oisin Murphy takes the ride and odds of 5/1 look generous.

3.00 – Goodwood
If you’re looking for an upset this afternoon then Meydaan could well be your horse to turn over the hot-pot Jan Brueghel.

Winner of the Cocked Hat here in May, there will be no Illinois to contend with today.

3.35 – Goodwood
At big odds, Doha (e/w) can make her presence felt in the Nassau Stakes this afternoon.

The tactics were all wrong in the Pipalong Stakes where she narrowly missed out on the victory, but she can put up a better show today.

4.10 – Goodwood
Brighton Boy and Oisin Murphy should be right there in the mix in today’s Nursery Handicap.

A comfortable winner at Chester last time, he should see out this extra furlong well.

4.45 – Goodwood
Lurking towards the bottom of the handicap is Noel Fox and the filly can play a lead role in proceedings off just 8st 7lbs.

The Beckett stable is in fine form also.

5.20 – Goodwood
The well-bred Dreamy is an interesting filly in this seven furlong affair and she has the world’s greatest jockey on her back too.

She looks a good bet for win purposes.

5.55 – Goodwood
Jungle Mac continues to race consistently and there’s every reason to believe that he can make the podium once more in this one mile handicap.

Drawn nicely, the youngster is a solid each-way play.

Goodwood Day 4 Tips
1.50 – Goodwood

Staying is the name of the game in the 2m4f Goodwood Handicap and a veteran who can do just that is The Grand Visir (E/W).

The former Ascot Stakes winner can outrun his odds and make the podium at the very least today. Of the others, Tritonic also looks overpriced given what he can do on a going day.

2.25 – Goodwood
If there is such a thing, this is the easiest “task” Task Force has faced for some time and I fully expect the Frankel-colt to be there battling it out in the closing stages of this Group 3 affair.

The Ralph Beckett stable is in red hot form too.

3.00 – Goodwood
The milers take centre stage in this contest and there is no way Orbaan should be a 25/1 shot.

After two excellent efforts at Carlisle I can see David O’Meara’s runner going well again under Silvestre De Sousa.

3.35 – Goodwood
Course and distance winner Big Evs can bounce back in this Group 2 King George Stakes.

Ground conditions will suit him here much better than at Royal Ascot and he’s one for any shortlist.

4.10 – Goodwood
My Prospero appears to have found a winnable seasonal opener courtesy of William Haggas on Friday.

The five-year-old should account for his rivals here on all known form.

4.45 – Goodwood
I was impressed by Zabeel Road (E/W) on his first couple of runs with the York form reading really well if you do some delving into it (Prix Robert Papin/Arabie).

Any large double-digit odds are worth taking on Charlie Johnston’s runner here.

5.20 – Goodwood
New Chelsea can give the Ralph Beckett stable a Festival winner in the concluding 1m4f handicap on Friday.

This New Bay-gelding is the type to improve even further for a step up in trip.

Spearheading day two are the milers who battle it out in the £1 million Sussex Stakes, before the fillies do their thing on Ladies Day (Thursday) in the Nassau Stakes.

Glorious Goodwood History
The history of Goodwood stretches back over 200 years.

In 1801, the third Duke of Richmond (who lived in Goodwood Hall) held a private race meeting for the members of his hunt and the local militia, and a year later the first public meeting was held on the land.

Over the duration of many, many years, the course and event was labelled with the nickname ‘Glorious Goodwood’.

The summer meet fast became the ‘must-attend’ event amongst the movers and shakers in society, primarily for the partying more than the racing.

In 1947, Goodwood staged a historical first when it was the venue for the very first BBC radio broadcast of a horse racing meeting.

It was the day on which Gordon Richards secured a victory in the King George Stakes, something which he repeated in every renewal up to 1952.

It was also the year Goodwood became the first racecourse in the country to broadcast live commentary to racegoers via the public address system.

Glorious Goodwood Race Dates And Times
