Premier League Darts 2019: Week One Betting Tips & Odds

The 2019 Premier League Darts campaign gets underway on Thursday night – much to the delight of darts fans across the country. Now one of the biggest events on the PDC calendar, punters will be lining up their Premier League Darts bets ahead of Thursday evening.

Newcastle is first up on the schedule and we’ve got a mouth-watering set of games for darts fans to get stuck into. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of the best darts betting markets ahead of the 2019 Premier League Darts opening night.

JAMES WADE vs Raymond van Barneveld (7:15pm)

Wade looks set for a huge 2019 campaign. Confidence is high after reaching the Masters final last weekend and 11/10 for a player in good form is a decent price.Van Barneveld failed to inspire confidence last year and the Dutchman may struggle with the intensity of the Premier League. He should give a decent account here though…

This one could go down to the wire but I fancy Wade to edge it. Barney will have most of the Newcastle crowd behind him but sticking with the form book makes sense on opening night.

TIP: Wade to win @ 11/10

PREDICTED SCORE: Wade 7-5 Van Barneveld (Priced at 7/1 with 888sport)

Gerwyn Price vs DARYL GURNEY (7:55pm)

Price has made a name for himself as the bad boy of darts. He was openly critical of Premier League Darts as a competition last year but managed to retain his place for 2019.

Gurney suffered an embarrassing first round loss at the Masters last weekend but he will be quietly confident of bouncing back here. His record of one win in nine games against Price is hardly inspiring though.

Price is on a downward trajectory and a Gurney win (11/10) here is expected. Consistency continues to elude Gurney on a regular basis but he has the talent to open with a hard-fought victory.

TIP: Gurney to win @ 11/10

PREDICTED SCORE: Price 4-7 Gurney (Priced at 8/1 with 888sport)

CHRIS DOBEY vs MENSUR SULJOVIC (8:35pm)

Dobey is first up in the PDC’s merry-go-round list of replacements for Gary Anderson. The 28-year-old will want to spring a shock on opening night – he is playing for more than pride.

Suljovic struggled in the 2018 Premier League, eventually finishing a lowly ninth. Organisers have decided to give him a second chance though and he could grasp it with both hands.

Dobey should keep this one respectable and over 10.5 legs is well priced at 13/25. Suljovic has the class and experience but this one is tough to predict.

TIP: Over 10.5 legs @ 13/25

PREDICTED SCORE: Dobey 7-4 Suljovic (Priced at 13/2 with 888sport)

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN vs MICHAEL SMITH (9:15pm)

The world number one is in supreme form and Van Gerwen will be determined to snag two points here. Opening with a win is huge for momentum and he will take some stopping.

Smith will be confident of getting off to the perfect start on Thursday night. He has struggled against Van Gerwen in this competition in the past but could catch the Dutchman cold in Newcastle.

Without a doubt, this is the game of the night. Van Gerwen is the obvious pick but I fancy Smith to nick a draw here. 9/2 is a huge price for a share of the spoils.

TIP: Match to end a draw @ 9/2

PREDICTED SCORE: Van Gerwen 6-6 Smith (Priced at 9/2 with 888sport)

PETER WRIGHT vs ROB CROSS (9:55pm)

Wright was superb at the Masters last weekend, reaching the semi-finals before falling short against Wade. A repeat of those excursions might be enough to snatch a narrow win here.

Meanwhile, Cross could go with a confidence-boosting win on Thursday night. Victory up in Newcastle for Voltage could kickstart a successful Premier League campaign for the former world champion.

ake your pick here – this is a lottery. It should be close though and that brings the EVS for over 11.5 legs into play. It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see this one go down to a decider.

TIP: Over 11.5 legs @ EVS

PREDICTED SCORE: Wright 7-5 Cross (Priced at 8/1 with 888sport)
