The Premier League Darts rollercoaster heads to Exeter on Thursday and the 10 competing players will all be quietly confident of securing a positive result. With five evenly matched fixtures planned, this could be the best night yet.
Last week was a poor week for the blog with just two correct picks. Hopefully we can get all five right on Thursday evening – scroll down to check out our thoughts on the action:
Luke Humphries vs GERWYN PRICE (7:15pm)
Humphries shocked Cross at the PDC World Championships in December and the 24-year-old will fancy his chances here. One of the most improved players over the last 12 months, Humphries will be looking to make a name for himself on the big stage.
Price is in fantastic form, having won back-to-back Player Championship titles last weekend. On that form, the Welshman will be difficult to beat in Exeter on Thursday night – though he cannot afford to lose three legs on his throw this week.
It is hard to back against Price at this moment in time. He isn’t the most consistent player in the business but 4/6 is a reasonable figure for the Welshman to pick up the win.
It is still early days but Gurney looks set to enjoy a successful Premier League campaign. The Northern Irishman has started to win fans over in recent times after developing a reputation in his younger years – he is now very popular on the circuit.
However, Cross is a former world champion and Voltage will be looking to cement his status as a playoff contender. After a hit and miss start to 2019, Cross needs a confidence-boosting win here ahead of a busy month.
A high-scoring game looks likely. Both players are usually solid on their own throw and that brings the 2/5 for over 10.5 legs into play. This could be one of the games of the night.
